Campervan Conversion (Part 1)

So Laura and I have made the “smart” decision to convert a van. The van of choice, a 1997 2.2 diesel Mazda Bongo, which from now on will be referred to as Barry AKA Bazza the Bongo.

After a visit to Washworld immediately after buying Barry to clean his exterior, we then scrubbed his insides (there was a lot of greasy marks) and made a floor template.

We put the foil underlay and plywood floor in pretty soon after, and with a slight bit of bodging we had a solid base to start constructing our seating/storage/sleeping area.

The boxes are made from 12mm plywood with a 2×1 inch timber supporting frame.

Barrys internal makeover is progressing quite quickly so expect ‘Part 2’ soon.

To be continued…
