Now its ‘winter’ apparently we’ve still been out and about….coz its not that cold. Its still 15-18° and sunny.
A suggestion by Phils colleague Rob sent us up Otanewaniku (he also gave us the heads up about the Ohau walkway and waterfall), and fellow campervanners Bex and Matt and their friend Emma joined us, followed standardly by tea and cake 🙂
Over a month ago we headed down to Taupo in convoy with our campervan buddies, for some good wholesome camper-fun! Basil the Bongo now has a friend…Manny the Mazda – the vanny, who’s not a tranny, and has no fanny!
There we met up with some other UK Tauranga docs, Alice, Joe, Tom and Natalie and climbed to the Tauhara summit, this time for an awesome view over Lake Taupo, though sadly Tongariro and friends were in cloud. (Photo assistance, thanks to Alice).
And after a good climb we headed for some hot pool time in a not-so-secret pool on the way home. Herbal essence times required!
Then a couple of weekends ago, we headed to Waihi beach with Matt and Bex, which we intended to be the start of an epic coastal walk…. but ended up with us doing handstands, throwing stones into the sea and climbing trees. Because we’re awesome.
And of course, the day was yet again finished off with tea and cake, and our first game (hopefully of many) of Settlers of Catan. Essentially, a more enjoyable, strategic and shorter version of Monopoly.
You gotta love ‘winter’.
